
PRESIDENT/CEO - JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports To: Board of Directors
Hours: Part-Time 20-30 hr./week
Summary: The Collinsville Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization whose mission it is to promote economic growth and prosperity for businesses and individuals in Collinsville. The President/CEO is responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors for providing executive leadership to the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce. Primary responsibilities involve managing membership growth, leading event planning, enhancing public relations, and acting as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors. Additionally, the President/CEO manages daily operations, ensures effective communication, and oversees the delivery of valuable programs, events, and services to members. This position requires strong leadership, financial knowledge, and a commitment to fostering a vibrant business community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational & Program Management

Serve as spokesperson for the Chamber.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including management of programs, events, membership, and marketing efforts.

Manage the delivery of services and programs that provide value to members, such as networking events, educational workshops, and business resources.

Oversee the planning and execution of Chamber events, including Annual Dinner, trade shows, community festivals, and events.

Execute general office management duties, including answering and returning phone calls/emails, processing mail, filing, sending calendar invitations, hosting the master calendar of events, preparing letters and other documents, and meeting preparation.

Provide outstanding customer service to members and the public who might visit the office.

Assist with onboarding new members and entering their data into the database.

Maintain and update databases, ensure records are current and easily accessible.

Oversee maintenance of the physical office, including basic cleaning.
Fiscal Management

Perform daily bookkeeping (print checks, pay bills, track expenses).

Track deadlines and contact requirements.

Communicate with vendors and committees.

Create invoices for memberships and follow-up.

Process membership payments and other incoming payments.

With assistance and approval from the board, develop an annual budget for the Chamber’s operations that delineates projected revenue and expenses and projected net profit as appropriate.

Lead, direct, and develop the Chamber’s fund-raising strategies, membership drives, sponsorship initiatives, and capital campaigns.

Monitor Chamber’s fiscal condition.
Board Management

Serve as primary liaison to Board of Directors.

Work with the Chair to prepare agendas and materials for Board and Executive Committee meetings.

Attend Chamber Board committee meetings and provide staff support to committee efforts.

Support the Board with information for reports and statements, as needed.

Meet as needed with Board chair to prioritize tasks and streamline communication.

Develop goals and objectives for recommendation to the Board.

Track metrics for strategic plans, grants, or other reports the Board needs.
Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of management/executive-level experience in a business-related field or other leadership position and oversight of finances

Previous non-profit management experience preferred.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, though candidates with equivalent qualifications may also be considered (i.e., training and experience attained through military, industry, or association service).

Experience collaborating effectively with volunteers is preferred.

Must be available for evening and weekend work when necessary.

Must have superior and demonstrated computer skills, including extensive experience with all Microsoft Office programs, and be highly skilled in email, internet use, and database management.

Familiarity with social media platforms and social media content creators, such as Canva.
